32e Conférence Annuelle
Université Cheikh Anta Diop, Dakar 17-20 Mai 2006

Lors de sa dernière rencontre à Washington, DC, en mai 2004, la French Colonial Historical Society a pris la décision officielle de tenir sa conférence annuelle à Dakar du 17 au 20 mai 2006. Le Département d'Histoire de l'UCAD est la structure qui va accueillir la manifestation. Cette institution sera appuyée au plan scientifique et logistique par le West African Research Center de Dakar.
La French Colonial Historical Society regroupe des spécialistes de l'ancien Empire colonial français qui sont rattachés à diverses institutions d'enseignement supérieur et/ou de recherche en Afrique, en Amérique du Nord, en Asie et en Europe. L'Assemblée générale (AG) ordinaire de la Société se tient annuellement en même temps qu'une conférence dont le thème porte sur la colonisation française. Au-delà de la place importante que le Sénégal a eu à occuper dans le système colonial français en Afrique, c'est surtout la réputation de Dakar comme l'un des pôles intellectuels les plus en vue sur le continent qui a convaincu la Société d'accepter la proposition qui lui avait été faite d'organiser sa première AG en Afrique dans la capitale sénégalaise.
